Abstract

758,160. Wall and like brackets. LONDON ENGINEERS PATTERN CO., Ltd. June 3, 1955 [July 28, 1954], No. 22064/54. Class 52(5). [Also in Groups XXV and XXXVI] A cleat for securing and supporting cables, pipes and the like comprises a base plate 1 adapted to be bolted or otherwise secured to a surface and having extending therefrom a pair of clamping arms 2, 3, one arm 2 being pivoted to the base plate to swing away freely from the second arm 3 and the second arm 3 being separate from and secured to the base plate by means rendering the arm substantially immovable when attached to the base plate, the arms being adapted to be drawn together to embrace a cable, pipe or the like or a bundle thereof. As shown, each of the arms is formed with a knuckle lug 10 and each is received between a pair of lugs 9 on the base plate, a pin passing through apertures in the lugs 9 and 10. The arm 2 can pivot freely but pivoting of the arm 3 is prevented by providing a tongue 11 on the knuckle lug 10 which projects into a slot or recess 12 in the base plate 1. The arm 3 can therefore only rock to a very limited extent. Each arm has an apertured lug 13 at its free end the lugs being connected together by a bolt 14. In a modification the base plate is formed with a single lug for each arm and the arms each have two knuckle lugs. The knuckle lugs on the arm 2 are rounded so that the arm can pivot freely but the knuckle lugs on the arm 3 have flat faces which abut similar flat faces formed on the base plate to permit the limited rocking movement of the arm 3.
