757,954. Friction plates for clutches. MASCHINENFABRIK STROMAG GES. Sept. 10, 1951 [Dec. 20, 1950; Dec. 21, 1950], No. 21277/51. Class 80(2) [Also in Group XXXIV] A friction plate is composed of a plurality of layers of different metal powders simultaneously pressed together and thereafter sintered. The plate may comprise layers 10, 11, 10, Fig. 2, arranged side by side, or layers 22, 24, 26, Fig. 4, arranged radially of one another. Graphite or other substances may be mixed with the metal powders. In a plate for electromagnetic friction clutches the layers 22, 26 may be of sintered iron and the layer 24 of sintered bronze.
