Abstract

757,170. Ammunition. BROMBACHER, H. Sept. 8, 1954 [Sept. 10, 1953], No. 26066/54. Class 9(1) An ammunition cartridge is provided cumprising a case 1 and two or more bullets 3 axially aligned and embedded in a propellant charge, the forward portion 5 of which has a higher burning rate than the rear part 4. The bullets have a hard steel core 9 with an inner lead coat 10 and an outer copper coat 11. Other materials may be used for the bullet, which may contain an explosive charge. The cartridge is fired from a conventional rifled barrel 8 having a jacket 12 and a cartridge chamber 18 closed by a breech block 13. Through the block 13 is a passage for the firing pin 15 by which the primer cap 2 in the cartridge base is initiated.
