Abstract
757,087. Washing dishes. LEWTHWAITE. W. June 24, 1954 [June 25, 1953; Nov. 7, 1953; April 24 1954], Nos. 17587/53, 30883/53 and 11879/54. Class 138(1) [Also in Group VIII] A washing machine comprises a tub 1, containing Water and articles to be washed, and a pipe 4 down which air is forced into a container A, formed by a perforated disc 2 having a downwardly depending side flange 3, so that the air escapes from the container A through the perforations and agitates the water to effect washing. The container A may be raised from the bottom of the tub 1 by suction pad feet, or by a rim of rubber. The container A may be formed integrally with the bottom of the tub, but otherwise, to hold the pipe 4 and the container A in place springs 6 in plastic sheaths are strung between the rim of the tub 1 and a flange 7 on the pipe 4 which may be adjustable along the pipe. Alternatively wooden struts ledged under the rim of the tub may bear on top of the container A. A cover made from flexible fabric may fit round the pipe 4 to lie on the springs 6. A baffle comprising a wooden lattice may be floated on the surface of the washing water.
