Abstract

754,299. Building panels. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. Sept. 1, 1954 [May 10, 1954], No. 25434/54. Class 87(1). A building panel comprises a metal frame built up from outwardly facing channel members 11, 12 to which are secured, by bending over their edges 15, metal facing sheets 13, 14. The space within the panel is filled completely with foamed synthetic resin 17 or partly with foamed synthetic resin and partly with heat insulating material 18 such as rock wool or glass fibres. These two materials may be arranged as alternate strips or as islands of one within the other. Insulating material 16 is arranged between the frame 11, 12 and the facing sheets 13, 14. The panel may be manufactured by securing one facing sheet to the frame, inserting the heat insulating material, pouring in the synthetic resin and then securing the other facing sheet, or the synthetic resin may be made into preformed blocks and stuck to the facing sheets.
