Abstract
754,293. Stereoscopes. ANKERSMIT, K. S. Aug. 18,1954, No. 24057/54. Class 97 (1). In a hand stereoscope for viewing a stereoscopic pair of transparencies mounted on a slide 47, an electric lamp 14, operated by seriesconnected separate cell dry batteries 20, 21 and 22 is provided to illuminate a light-coloured background surface 46 and, a spring contact device is located so as to be closed to complete the lamp circuit by the pressure of an inserted slide. Preferably the lower edge of the slide closes a spring contact device consisting of strips 19 and 34. As shown, single cell dry batteries 20, 21 and 22 are connected in series and supported by spring strip 17 which is sprung into position in case 3 behind member 27. Rightangled strips 16 and 18 connect batteries 20 and 22 to strips 32 and 19 respectively. Stud 36 connects strip 16 to strip 32, passing through but not touching strip 34. Insulating layers 33 and 35 complete the contact switch and lamp mounting which is secured to case 3 by coverplate 45 and screws 37. Members 38 depending from lid 4 co-operate with members 23 to hold the batteries in position and background member 39 and slot defining member 40 are also part of the lid. Binocular viewing lenses, mounted in housing 1, are attached to slides 6 which are moved in opposite directions, to vary the interocular distance, by pins 7a on wheel 7 which meshes with operating whael 8. Housing 1 is movable axially, to focus the lenses, by knob 13 which turns pinion 12 engaging rack 11.
