754,241. Hoists for erecting poles. SOUTH WESTERN ELECTRICITY BOARD, and HORN, D. F. March 9, 1955 [March 9, 1954], No. 6887/54. Class 78 (4). A hoist for raising poles comprises two legs 1 joined at one end where they carry tackle 5 having two falls and operated by a winch 4 on one of the legs. The hoist is connected to the pole by a sling 10 when both pole and hoist are lying on the ground and the winch 4 is then operated to raise the hoist to a convenient position after which it is held by a rope 11 so that it raises the pole. The legs 1 are preferably aluminium tubes and may carry spiked base-plates 2.
