Abstract

753,964. Lubricating. JAMES, G. E., REES, W. J. C., LANGDON, A. B., and DARBY, V. E. Aug. 24, 1954 [Jan. 30, 1954], No. 24644/54. Class 12 (3). An air line grease lubricator comprises a pipe 4 having a constriction 5 in the bore shaped to form a non-streamlined abutment, a balance hole 7 and a grease inlet orifice 8 in closer proximity to the abutment than the balance hole 7, a jacket 9 around the pipe providing a grease reservoir. The grease inlet orifice may be provided on the downstream side of the pipe 4 and the balance hole on the upstream side. In a modification the constriction in the pipe is formed by an inwardly swaged portion of the pipe and the grease inlet orifice is positioned through the constriction. The constriction may be eccentric to the bore of the pipe with its axes displaced away from the grease inlet orifice. The sides of the constricted portion of the pipe are inclined at an angle of at least 45 degrees to the axes of the pipe.
