[Also in Group XIII] The grate of an open fireplace is formed by solid firebars 12 located within and metallically bonded to or cast integral with a frame 4, 6, 8 containing a water passage or passages. The frame forms walls surrounding the well of the grate, and contains a partition separating the inlet 16 from the outlet 18. The firebars are serrated. In a modification, the front wall is formed partly of open bars and does not embody a water passage.
