Class 68(1) [Also in Group XXIX] In a shovelling machine in which a scoopcarrying jib 9 and the jacks for actuating the jib and the scoop 11 are mounted on a turret 6 rotatably supported on a vehicle chassis 1, the turret 6 is rotated by a pair of single-acting, hydraulically actuated jacks 23, 24 one only of which is operated at a time, said jacks being interconnected through spring-loaded relief valve means 46. On the interruption of the flow of liquid to and from the cylinders the inertia of the moving turret and the structure supported thereon would, if no valve means 46 were provided between the jacks, result in the creation 'of an excessive pressure differential in the jacks as the rotation of the turret is halted, but because of the valve means 46 the pressure differential is greatly reduced. The valve of the pressure differential is dependant upon the tension of spring-loading means 53 of the two non. return valves 51 of the valve means 46. Each piston rod 29, 30 of the jacks 23, 24 is connected by a chain 39, 34 to the turret 9. Specification 753.008 is referred to.
