Abstract

752,575. Shaft couplings. A.E.C., Ltd., and THORPE, C. J. Oct. 12, 1954 [Feb. 11, 1954], No. 4096/54. Class 80(2) In a coupling in which teeth on one member engage slots in the other member or in which teeth on both members engage slots in an intervening member or members the teeth are a close sliding fit in said slots to prevent relative rotation and permit relative radial movement of the members and a resilient connection is provided between the members to restrain said radial movement. As shown, two teeth 23 on a member 20 and two teeth 16 on a member 13 engage slots 17, 19 in an intermediate member 18. A drum 10 secured to the member 13 surrounds the member 20 and a rubber ring 22 in a groove 21 in the member 20 bears against the inner surface 11 of the drum 10. In another construction the teeth on the members engage recesses in two rings separated by a third member which has teeth engaging recesses in the two rings. The third member has a rubber ring located between its periphery and the inner surface of the drum.
