Abstract

An aqueous plastic mass comprises dextran, of molecular weight 60,000 to 400,000, and a water-soluble urea-formaldehyde resin. The composition may be coated on a base such as metal, fabric or paper, and heated to remove the water and set the coating. Ammonium chloride, to assist curing, and plasticisers such as ethylene, diethylene, triethylene and propylene glycols, may also be included.
