A semi-trailer has a chassis 1 to which is hinged at 2 an arm 3 having a ground engaging skid 4 and a coupling element 6 engageable with the element 7 on the tractor 8. A screw or hydraulic jack 5 between the chassis 1 and the arm 3 serves to vary the inclination of the arm 3 when its front end 6 is disconnected and the angular disposition of the chassis around the wheel axle when connected.
