Abstract
750,830. Pneumatic conveyers. BUHLER, GEB. Jan. 26, 1954, No. 2369/54. Class 78 (1). In portable apparatus for loading and unloading ships and vehicles and for conveying purposes in warehouses, the blower 20, which sucks up the material through the pipe 2 into the hopper 1 and forces it through the pipe 23, is driven by a motor 21 which is stopped automatically when the material reaches a certain level in the hopper or when an obstruction prevents the rotation of the bucket-wheel discharger 19 at the outlet of the hopper. A diaphragm 9, inserted in the side of the hopper, when depressed by the material closes a contact 10 which actuates a relay 34 to interrupt the lead 30 to the motor 21. The other lead 31 to this motor is also a lead to the motor 15 which drives the bucket-wheel 19 through a slip clutch 17 and shaft 16. This shaft is coupled mechanically to an electromagnetic brake controlling means 18. When an obstruction in the outlet prevents the rotation of the discharger 19 and shaft 16, the controlling means 18 comes into operation and opens a switch 36 in the lead 31, thereby stopping the motors 15, 21. Dust-laden conveying air passes from the hopper 1 through a pipe 5 into a flexible tubular filter 6 from which the dust is discharged by the wheel 7 and the clean air passes through a pipe 22 to the suction side of the blower.
