749,208. Endless belt conveyers. BRITISH TYRE & RUBBER CO., Ltd., ACKERS, H., and ROWNSON, DREW & CLYDESDALE, Ltd. Oct. 21, 1954 [Oct. 28, 1953], No. 29836/53. Class 78 (1). A conveyer belt, particularly for material in powder form, consists of a carrier belt 10, comprising layers 11 of rubberized textile fabric and a rubber layer 12, and a part 14 of channel section, having a base 15 with curved sides 16, comprising layers 17, 18 of rubberised textile fabric which over the base 15 and at the edges 19 are separated by a thin rubber layer and over the sides 16 by rubber fillets 20. The layers 17, 18 are covered with rubber and the outer surface of the base 15 is bonded by this rubber to the belt 10. The part 14 is so dimensioned that when it is flattened on passing round a terminal drum, its edges coincide with the edges of the belt 10. Beads 22 of soft rubber prevent powder accumulating in the crevices between the parts 10, 14. The free edges of the sides of the channel 14 are extended to form flaps 23, 23a covering the material. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the sides of the channel are separate from the base which is formed by the carrier belt, and the free edges of the cover flaps are secured together by a fastener such as is described in Specification 709,701.
