Abstract
749,172. Electrical component assemblies. SKILLMAN & CO. PTY., Ltd., T. S. Feb. 9, 1954 [Feb. 20, 1953], No. 3844/54. Class 40 (5). In an assembly of components comprising, for example, a coil 1 and a condenser 2 arranged to form a filter network, the components 1, 2 and terminals 4, 5 are placed above an insulating sheet 8 of, for example, polythene or polystyrene, with the leads therefrom passing through holes 9 in the sheet 8 and also through registering holes in a lower. sheet 10, through which latter holes pass the ends of connecting wires 3, 6, 7 arranged between the sheets. The sheets 8 and 10 are then pressed together with the application of heat to fuse them together and electrical connection between adjacent wires projecting below the sheet 10 is then completed by dipping in a solder bath or by welding, the wires subsequently being clipped short. The unit is then pressed with the application of heat between upper and lower insulating sheets 12, 11 to form a sealed structure, Fig. 3, from which the terminals 4, 5 project. A number of such units may be arranged in a casing to form, for example, an amplifier, the leads from the units being connected to a multi-pin plug whereby it may be plugged into a rack mounting. Metallic screens may be arranged between the units if desired and one of them may incorporate a number of thermionic valves which project through holes in the casing to permit the dissipation of heat.
