Material fed into a hopper 7 is thrown in a stream into a hopper 9 by co-operating conveyers 4, 11, the conveyer 4 comprising an endless belt which, over its operative portion, is troughed by rollers and the conveyer 11 comprising an endless belt formed with ribs 15 of a form corresponding to the troughing of the belt.
