Abstract
748,328. Attaching continuously delivered yarn to winding means. CELANESE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. July 2, 1954 [July 3, 1953], No. 19450/54. Class 120 (2). In order to facilitate the throwing of continuously delivered yarn on to a bobbin in a ring twisting machine without a long loose tail extending from the yarn package, a yarn guide is provided in combination with severing means to cause yarn extending from the ring traveller to be wound on to the bobbin and the end severed by a movement of the guide. On removal of a full bobbin, the yarn is passed from the feed roll 26 to a balloon guide 29, thence to an upper guide 34 and back to the feed roll 26. After an empty bobbin 12 has been placed on the spindle, the yarn extending between the guides 29, 34 is manually drawn through the ring 17, engaged in the traveller 21 and passed under guides 32, 33, the bobbin 12 being kept stationary during this operation by a spindle brake. When the brake is released and as the ring rail 19 moves towards the bottom of its traverse, an arm 46 is moved either manually or automatically to turn the guide 32 towards the bobbin 12 thereby causing the yarn to engage the edge of the lower flange 14 of the bobbin. The yarn is caught in a slot 15 and begins to wind on the bobbin 12. At the same time, movement of the arm 46 causes a sleeve 66 to move along a rod 56 to trap the yarn between the sleeve 66 and a head 57 at the end of the rod, thus severing the yarn.
