Abstract

The invention comprises N : N1-acyl-derivatives of 3 : 5 - diamino - 2 : 4 : 6 - triiodobenzoic acid, obtainable from the acid by conventional methods of acylation. In examples, the acid is treated with the anhydrides of acetic, propionic, n-butyric, and oenanthic acids, and acetyl chloride to give generally diacyl products, with some tetracyl products, and a monoacetylproduct. Tetrapropionyl-3 : 5-diamino-2 : 4 : 6-triiodo benzoic acid may be converted to the dipropionyl compound with alkali, and the ethyl ester of 3 : 5-diacetylamino-2 : 4 : 6-triiodobenzoic acid is described. Triacyl products and by further acylation of the tetracyl compound, a mixed anhydride, are also produced in the reaction.
