Abstract

Methyl N-n-laurylanthranilate is prepared by heating together methyl anthranilate, n-lauryl bromide, and anhydrous potassium carbonate. The sodium salt of di-(31-sulphobenzoyl)-benzidide is prepared by dissolving in aqueous caustic soda di-(31-chlorosulphonylbenzoyl)-benzidide, itself prepared by reacting m-chlorosulphonylbenzoyl chloride with benzidine suspended in acetic acid containing anhydrous sodium acetate. 2:5 - Diethyl - 3:4 - (11:81 - naphthylene)-cyclopatadienone (dimer) is prepared by adding methanolic potassium hydroxide to a stirred mixture of acenaphthenequinone, di-n-propyl ketone, and methanol, and boiling the carbinol obtained with glacial acetic acid. 7:10 - Diethyl - 8:9 - dihydrofluoranthenedicarboxylic anhydride is prepared by heating together 2:5 - diethyl - 3:4 - (11:81 - naphthylene) - cyclopentadienone (dimer), maleic anhydride, and benzene.
