Abstract

4 - Amino - N - ethyl : N - (b - methylsulphonamidoethyl) - m - phenetidine oxalate is prepared by reducing N-ethyl : N - (b - methylsulphonamidoethyl) - 4 - nitroso - m - phenetidine in absolute alcohol with hydrogen in presence of Raney Nickel, filtering off the catalyst, and adding oxalic acid. 4-Amino-n-methyl : N-(b -methylsulphonamidoethyl) - m - anisidine, 4-amino - N - ethyl : N - (b - methylsulphonamidoethyl) - m - anisidine, 4 - amino - 3 - propoxy - N - propyl : N - (b - methylsulphonamidoethyl) - aniline, 4 - amino - 3 - methoxy - 5-methyl - N - ethyl : N - (2 - methylsulphonamidoethyl) - aniline, and 4 - amino - 3 : 5 - diethoxy-N - ethyl : N - (b - methylsulphonamidoethyl)-aniline are similarly prepared. N - Ethyl - m - acetophenetidide is prepared by reacting m-phenetidine first with ethyl iodide and then with acetic anhydride. N - Ethyl - m - phenetidine is prepared by hydrolysing N - ethyl - m - acetophenetidide by boiling with aqueous HCl. N - (b - Aminoethyl) : N - ethyl - m - phenetidine is prepared by heating a mixture of N-ethyl - m - phenetidine and b - bromoethylamine hydrobromide. N - Ethyl : N - (b - methylsulphonamidoethyl)-m-phenetidine is prepared by reacting N-(b -aminoethyl) : N - ethyl - m - phenetidine with methanesulphonyl chloride. N - Ethyl : N - (b - methylsulphonamidoethyl)-4 - nitroso - m - phenetidine is prepared by adding sodium nitrite to an acidified solution of N - ethyl : N - (b - methylsulphonamidoethyl) - m - phenetidine.
