Abstract
747,073. Ventilating and heating vehicles. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. June 24, 1954 [July 2, 1953], No. 18571/54. Class 137. [Also in Group XXIX] Twin heating and ventilating arrangements for motor vehicles provided one at each side of the engine compartment each comprises a hot air duct 2 accommodating a heat exchanger 8 which may be connected to the cooling water circuit of the engine and a cool air duct 3 disposed beneath it, a valve 4, operated by a cable 5 with a push-pull knob 7, being provided at the common air intake end of the ducts 2, 3, the other ends of which are divided into upper and lower branches 9, 10 and 91, 101 respectively, the two upper branches 9, 9<SP>1</SP> leading to common demisting nozzles 11 and the two lower branches 10, 10<SP>1</SP> leading to a common ventilation and heating outlet 12 directed toward the foot space of the passenger compartment. The cold and hot air is distributed by means of valves 13, 13<SP>1</SP> operated by cables 15, 151 with corresponding push-pull operating knobs 16, 16<SP>1</SP>, the quantity of air delivered at the respective points 11, 12 being controlled by throttle valves 14, 14<SP>1</SP> operated by rods 17, 17<SP>1</SP>. The latter are linked to housings 18, 18<SP>1</SP> for the cables 15, 151 and their push-pull knobs 16, 161 the housings 18, 18<SP>1</SP> being rockably mounted to the instrument panel 6 for up and down movement to actuate the valves 14, 14<SP>1</SP>. In a modification the ducts 2, 3, are disposed side-by-side, the heating duct 2 being arranged adjacent the engine and the cool air duct 3 being disposed either inside, or outside, the engine compartment.
