Abstract

Austenitic nickel-chrome steel alloys for making watch and clock springs [Group XXII] have the following composition: 1-20 per cent of nickel; 10-25 per cent of chromium; 0-3 per cent of silicon; 0-6 per cent of molybdenum, 0-6 per cent of tungsten; 0-2 per cent of beryllium; 0-3 per cent of titanium; 0-0,1 per cent of carbon and the remainder iron. These alloys can be alloyed with additional elements e.g. up to 4 per cent of silicon plus manganese; up to 10 per cent of columbium; up to 10 per cent of titanium or up to 3 per cent of beryllium these additions as a whole not exceeding 10 per cent of the total alloy.
