Abstract

743,562. Cleaning bottles. SEITZ-WERKE GES. Aug. 10, 1953 [Aug. 22, 1952], No. 21970/53. Class 138(1) A device for the sterilising and subsequent rinsing of bottles, comprises a container 10, Figs. 1 and 2, partially filled with a sterilising agent, rotatably arranged about a horizontally disposed stationary shaft 17, and having radially disposed supports 11, 12, for the attachment of bottles 13 whereby the bottles are adapted to be filled and subsequently emptied under gravity during rotation of the device, a catching bowl 24 for the agent discharged from the bottles arranged in the container above the level of the agent, the shaft 17 having a compartment 34 Fig. 2, with a channel 25 connected to. the bowl 24 by a valve 30, whilst a further compartment 33 in the shaft has a conduit 21 and associated valve 23 through which used sterile rinsing water (supplied through a pipe 20, Fig. 1) is led into the compartment 33 from a collecting basin 32. The compartment 34 has an outlet 26 connected to a pipe 27 which can be selectively connected to a waste pipe or sterilising agent supply pipe 29, through a two-way valve 28. By appropriate control of the valves 28, 30 the container 10 may be emptied gradually, as it rotates, or filled with agent. The sterile rinsing water supplied through the pipe 20 Fig. 1, is guided by fixed plates 14, 15 into the basin 32 and, if the valve 23 is closed, overflows into the container to dilute the agent. If the valve 23 is open the water passes through the conduit 21 and the compartment 33 to waste, through an outlet 22. A fixed guard plate 16 adjacent the bottle loading and unloading positions prevents escape of the agent through the sockets 12 at those positions. The end walls 18, 19 of the container 10 are made of transparent material in order that the level of the sterilising agent may be observed and its concentration determined by an indicating float device 31.
