Abstract

743,426. Cathode-ray tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and NIXON, R. D. April 29, 1954 [April 29, 1953], No.11881/53. Class 39 (1). [Also in Group XL (c)] Interference between the magnetic lens 9 and the magnetic deflecting coils 4, especially acute in wide-angle deflection television tubes, is reduced by passing the neck of the tube through a magnetic sheet 6 which also supports the tube. The aperture may be wider than the neck, the actual support being by a non-magnetic ring 11 and rubber sleeve 22. This ring may be movable transversely so as to adjust the eccentricity of the tube axis in the aperture and, by changing the leakage flux, to obtain a centring effect on the beam. Alternatively, centring may be done by a separate magnetic ring 12 adjustable by handle 18 and locking screw 20.
