Abstract

743,001. Sink &c. stoppers. MORTON, T. F., and STEER, L. A. Feb. 15, 1954 [Feb. 13, 1953; May 8, 1953], Nos. 4066/53 and 12883/53. Class 26. [Also in Group XVII] A plug for sinks &c. comprises an annulus 1 of waterproof resilient material held between two clamping plates 2 and 3, a controlling disc 8, and means for applying pressure to the plates to compress the annulus and vary its external diameter. The bottom plate 3 may be dished, as shown, and the pressure applied by rotating a bush 5 on the screw-threaded member 4. The disc 8 is preferably of metal such as brass, and the plates 2 and 3 may be of metal or plastic. A modified form of annulus with a central web having a hole to receive the member 4 may be used, or the annulus may be hollow in the form of a pneumatic annular tube.
