742,163. Feeding webs. AKTIESELSKABET CROWN GUMMED PAPER. Nov. 13, 1953 [Nov. 29, 1952], No. 31550/53. Class 100 (1). A web of paper 1 printed to form labels which are severed one by one therefrom, is provided with one or more pairs of closelyspaced parallel incisions 8, 9 widthwise of the web with the incisions of each pair straddling the line of detachment 10 of a label; the material of the web between the incisions of each pair is slightly deflected out of the plane of the web so as to provide an edge engageable by a finger feeding the web to the cutting knife so as to ensure accurate severance along the required line 10. The incisions are produced by cutters 6 which may be attached to the printing frame and coact with a yielding support 7. During severance along the lines 10, the projecting edges are pressed back into the plane of the web.
