Abstract
741,184. Expanding - wheel gearing. FLENDER, A. F., [trading as FLENDER & CO., A. F.]. April 28, 1953 [April 28, 1952], No. 11703/53. Class 80(2) In expanding-wheel belt gearing, adjustment of the movable pulley disc 9 on driving shaft 4 is effected from a worm spindle 14 through a worm wheel 15 in which a pressure sleeve 16, screwed on a member 17 secured to a cap 2 carrying a bearing 3 for shaft 4, is axially slidable through a key 18, so that the parts 2,15,16, 17 can be removed as a single unit. The wheel 15 is held engaged with the worm by a forked sleeve 24 loose on spindle 14. The other pulley disc 7 on shaft 4 is fixed thereto, the diagonally-opposite disc 11 on driven shaft 5 is adjustably positioned by a nut 23, while the other disc 10 on shaft 5 is controlled by a spring 21 adjustable by a nut 22. An idle-running sleeve 19 is carried on shaft 4 between the discs 7, 9.
