Abstract

562,362. Centreless grinders. CHURCHILL MACHINE TOOL CO., Ltd., and LONGTHORPE, H. March 1, 1943, No. 3346. [Class 60] The control wheel is driven through a unit which swivels therewith and includes a gearbox which swivels about the same axis as the control wheel head and is adjustable axially to tension the drive from the gear-box to the control wheel shaft. The control wheel b is mounted in its head c by bearings b<1> and is driven by a chain k from a change speed gear mounted on trunnions m in a fixed box-like structure p, the control wheel head c being connected to the gear-box j by a stud r on the latter and secured in its adjusted position by means of bolts e passing through slots in the wall f of the structure p. The gear-box, which carries the driving motor, can be adjusted to tension the chain k by a screw v having a cap w thereon fitted with a spring x bearing on a bush n.
