Abstract
740,906. Endless conveyers. MINING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Dec. 9, 1953 [Jan. 1, 1953], No. 96/53. Class 78 (1). In a conveyer having separate tension and load-carrying elements, links connecting lengths of chain forming the tension element are interposed between a carrier for the load-carrying element and rollers for the tension element to form a rigid assembly. In one form, Fig. 3, connecting link 7 is welded to the cross-member 2 supporting a load-carrying belt 1, while the outer side of the link is provided with lugs 9, 10 spaced apart sufficiently for other links 11 of a chain 3 to be inserted during assembly, the gap between the lugs being closed by an I-section end portion 14 of the spindle 5 of a roller 4 which is held rigidly in place with the lugs 9, 10 engaging the inner sloping faces of the flanges of the I-section by a bolt 12. In a second form, Fig. 5, a forged connecting link 20 has lugs 21, 22 embracing an I-section portion on the end of the cross-member 2 and rigidly secured to the latter by a bolt passing through the lugs and I-section portion, while a boss 26 split at 27 is provided on the outer side of the link to receive the spindle of roller 4, which is held in place by a clamping bolt 28.
