A mixer for pulverulent or finely-granulated material, such as pulverized cement raw material, comprises a container having fluidizing means consisting of a porous bottom for the introduction of compressed air with a space below the porous bottom divided into several compartments, and a number of upright pipes, open at their upper and lower ends, arranged in the container above all or part of the said compartments with their lower ends flared and terminating a small distance above the porous bottom. In Fig. 1, compressed air enters through pipes 14 into compartments 9 beneath porous bottom plates 7 of a container 5, and passes upwardly into the container to fluidize the material therein, and, within the range of the flared lower ends 17 of pipes 16, passes into the flared ends 17 to carry material up the pipes 16 and out of the upper ends thereof where the materials are deflected back into the container 5 by means of hoods 19. The material is supplied to the container, intermittently or continuously, by means of a bucket elevator or other conveying device. The mixed product is withdrawn by means of a conveyer worm 12, or other conveying device. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), some of the pipes 16 terminate with their upper ends below the level of the material in the container. In another modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), several containers are provided, the material being caused to pass through the containers in series by providing one of the pipes 16 in each container but the last of the series with a bent extension pipe which delivers material into the next container of the series. The bent extension pipes may be pivotally arranged and may be positioned so that they deliver material back into their own containers.
