738,266. Rectifying. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Sept. 21, 1951 [Sept. 23, 1950; Feb. 2, 1951], No. 22186/51. Class 38 (2). [Also in Groups XL (a) and XL (c)] Cathode-ray tube line-scanning coils L1 ... L4 and frame-scanning coils L6 ... L8 are mounted toroidally on a yoke 1, and are arranged so that the line coils are capable of feeding directly a voltage-doubling E.H.T. circuit without the intervention of a transformer. Pairs of coils such as L3, L4 are spaced 60 degrees apart and produce aiding fields, and opposite pairs such as L3, L4 and L1, L2 produce opposing fields. The frame.coils are connected in series, while the line coils are connected in series-parallel as shown ; condenser C1 is for tuning the coils while condenser C2 is for removing unbalance, and undesirable coup. ling with the frame coils. The voltage doubling circuit comprises diodes D1, D2, reservoir condensers C3, C4 and limiting resistance R, the diode cathodes being heated by windings L9, L10 energized by the flux in yoke 1.
