Abstract
737,550. Transformers and inductors; electric coils. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Dec. 30, 1953, No. 36134/53. Classes 35 and 38 (2). A method of producing an inductive winding comprises printing or otherwise depositing a conductive track 2 on one surface of a flat insulating carrier 1 and folding the carrier through 180 degrees on a line crossed by the track-such as the dotted lines 7, 8, 9. Thus portions of the track on each side of the linefor example the track portions 12 and 13 on each side of the line 9 are brought into a relative position about an axis at right angles to the surface of the carrier to form one turn of the winding. To produce a winding having a greater number of turns than shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the track is printed as shown in Fig. 4, the initial fold being along the line 17, subsequent folds being made along lines 18, 19, 20. To obtain even more turns, more than one loop as shown in Fig. 4 may be printed concentrically therewith. When folding the carrier the requisite insulation may be inserted between the turns. Two such windings may be interleaved to form a transformer. Alternatively the two windings may be printed one on each side of the carrier. Specification 639,591 is referred to.
