Abstract

737,115. Spectacle frames. AUDI-VIS (LANCS.), Ltd. Jan. 8, 1954 [Jan. 26, 1953], No. 2135/53. Class 97 (1). [Also in Group XXXIX] The components of an electrical hearing aid (see Group XXXIX) are housed in the arms of a spectacle frame. The amplifier may use either thermionic valves or transistors. In one arrangement, channel-shaped arms 15 of cellulose acetate are closed by flat plates 22 cemented thereto. Spring biased hinged flaps 23 at the ends of the arms enable the batteries 26, 38 to be replaced. Components such as a microphone 27, a receiver 39, pentodes 28, 31, 32, &c. are divided between the two arms and are connected by wires in a passage 43 in the front of the frame. An air conduction receiver 39 may be linked by tubing to an earplug 41. Alternatively, a bone-conduction receiver projects through the side of the arm.
