Abstract
736,918. Aerials. BELLING & LEE, Ltd. April 29, 1954 [June 16, 1953], No. 16599/53. Class 40 (7). An aerial for the reception of two signals of differing frequencies polarized at right angles to one another consists of a first halfwave dipole for operation at a first frequency and a second half-wave dipole for operation at a second frequency supported along the length of, and at right angles to, the first. Either or both dipoles may be provided with parasitic elements. In a simple embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown) the first horizontal dipole 1 is supported centrally on top of a mast 3 by means of an insulator 2 and carries mounted at one of its extremities the second vertical dipole 6 supported in insulator 4. A parasitic reflector rod 7 for the second dipole may be supported at the other extremity of the first by means of another insulator 5. All these units are shown in Fig. 2 together with an arrangement of two director rods 10 and 11 and one reflector 9 for the first dipole. The dipole 6 and reflector 7 need not be mounted at the extremities of the arms of the dipole 1 but may be mounted at positions along its length (Fig. 3, not shown). The elements 6 and 7 may lie in a horizontal plane and at right angles to dipole 1 instead of being arranged vertically. Specification 700,928 is referred to.
