Abstract

707,573. Aerials. TELERECTION Ltd. Aug. 25, 1952 [May 25, 1951], No. 12356/51. Class 40 (7) A dipole radio aerial 13, 13a is centrally supported by a traverse support member 11 and has feeder connections comprising a pair of matching conductors 18, 18a, connected to the dipole elements at positions intermediate the ends thereof and converging to an anchorage insulator 21 on the member 11, the matching conductors and adjacent parts of the elements defining an isosceles triangle with the support member bisecting its apex angle. The down lead 22 has its conductors 23 and 23a connected at the insulator 21 to the members 18 and 18a which serve as impedance matching means between aerial and feeder. The clamping means 17 and 17a by which conductors 18 and 18a are attached to the dipole elements are preferably capable of adjustment along the elements, provision being made at the insulator 21 for the angle of the conductors to vary and for the insulator to move along member 11 so that the matching arrangement may be set up in the optimum position and then clamped. The member 11 may carry a reflector and two directors on its outer ends and be supported at the top of a mast down which lead 22 runs, Fig. 1 (not shown).
