Abstract

736,446. Fuel-injectors. C.A.V., Ltd. April 5, 1954 [April 15, 1953], No. 10275/53. Class 7(3). A fuel injection nozzle comprises a hollow body part a having in the side thereof at one end a fuel feed pipe connection f and at the other end a removable nozzle d, containing a spring- loaded valve g, held on to the part a by a cylindrical member c adapted for insertion in a cylindrical socket in the engine, the fuel pipe connection comprising a screw-threaded socket engaged by a pipe-securing bush and having at its inner end a seating for a complementary part of the fuel pipe. The part a may be formed from a bar of circular or hexagonal crosssection and is provided with a drain pipe connection j for fuel leaking past the valve g, The nozzle may be secured in position by a screwed gland nut or a bolted flange recessed to engage the top of the part c. Alternatively, the securing means comprises a clamping bar o, Fig. 4, secured to the engine by a stud p and engaging a recess q in the outer end of the part a, one bar preferably being used to secure a pair of adjacent nozzles.
