734,336. Mowing machines. GELINAS, M. Oct. 6, 1953, No. 27472/53. Class 6 (3): A motorized lawn-mower comprises a frame 10 supported on coaxial land-wheels W2, W4, a casing 13 having a horizontal rotary cutter 18 being supported laterally of the frame adjacent to a land-wheel W4 so that the cutter rises and falls with the land-wheel, the frame further being provided with a handle 24 pivoted about the land-wheel axis and with swivel wheels Wl, W3 located one on each side of the land-wheel W4 and substantially co-planar therewith. The cutter comprises blades 18 on rotary arms 17 driven by a belt and pulley 16, 20 from an engine 11. The cutter-casing 13 is supported rearwardly by a portion 26 of the frame 10 making therewith a re-entrant recess 29 which can be used in manoeuvring the mower around trees or posts. To avoid accidental access by children to the cutters, the casing 13 may be surrounded by an electrified cable connected to the engine-ignition.
