Abstract
733,989. Hooks. PAPIERFABRIK BAIENFURT AKT.-GES. Nov. 16, 1953 [Feb. 18, 1953]. No. 31719/53. Class 89(2). A hoisting eye which automatically opens when the load is set down has two or more gripping members 5, 6, Fig. 3, conjointly forming an eye 11 and formed as levers pivoted at 2, 3 to a carrying block 1. A locking element 16 is slidable within the block and slotted to receive a cam 26, Fig. 2, pivoted on a pin 27 to block 1. The element is rigidly fixed to a hoisting element, 17, e.g., a hook, and is urged by a spring 19 to turn arms 13, 14 of the gripping members, and thus open the eye. When cam 26 is turned in the direction of arrow P to raise element 16 and engage face 33 thereof with face 31, the eye is closed. When a load is supported by the eye, element 16 moves to abut block 1, thus parting faces 31, 33, whereupon the cam turns back to its initial position under its own weight and/or with the aid of a spring. On setting down the load spring 19 moves element 16 down to open the eye. The precompression of spring 19 is adjustable by screwing housing 18 into or out of block 1.
