Abstract
732,710. Electric heating resistances. GREENING & SONS, Ltd., N. Feb. 22, 1954 [March 25, 1953], No. 8186/53. Class 39 (3). An electric surface or panel heater, e.g. for de-icing aircraft comprises a metal sheet 15 formed during electrodeposition with many very small apertures or slots 16 in staggered relation to give tortuous parallel current paths. The sheet 15 is notched at 12 alternately from opposite sides and has current conductors 13, 14 soldered thereto. The apertures 16 are elongated, e.g. 0.2 x 0.15 inch and extend in the direction of the sheet 15, which may be of nickel 0.001 inch thick. The notches 12 extend to unperforated edges of the sheet 15. There may be 100-1000 oblong perforations per square inch and the space between the ends of the slots is twice the width between the sides of the slots.
