731,336. Massage appliances. HOLLAND, L. E. Sept. 14, 1953, No. 25297/53. Class 81 (2). A massage machine comprises a vertical, rotatable shaft having flexible members extending radially therefrom. A frame 18, 20 is mounted on a base 10 which houses'an electric motor for driving the vertical shaft 22. This has a number of slots, preferably arranged in two rows, 90 degrees apart, through each of which there extends a piece of flexible, rubberlike material having press-buttons by means of which the actual massaging members 26 are attached. An adjustable seat 38 is provided and may be swung around adjacent to the massaging assembly if the patient wishes to sit or may be moved to the position shown if he is to stand. Infra-red lamps 46 may be adjustably mounted on the rear vertical support 20. The electrical connections are such that the motor may run in either direction and the lamps 46 can only be used while the motor is running.
