Abstract
731,027. Internal shoe-drum brakes. GIRLING, Ltd. July 21, 1954 [June 17, 1953], No. 16679/53. Class 103 (1). The mechanical actuating means for the shoes of an internal shoe-drum brake comprises a skeleton frame 15 engaging one shoe 11 and mounted for sliding movement on the backplate 10 in a direction parallel to the line of movement of the shoe ends, and a lever 27 pivotally mounted in the frame and engaging the other shoe 12, the lever 27 extending through an opening 31 in the back-plate substantially at right-angles thereto, and being adapted to be connected by a cable or rod to the operating means. The frame 15 comprises a strip of stout metal bent to U-shape with the free ends closed together and mounted on the back-plate by a bolt member 24, the end of the bolt passing through a slot 21 therein.
