In an electric motor used to drive a clock the rotor 3 is arranged to oscillate or rotate between the poles of an electromagnet which includes a permanent magnet 7 shunting the poles of the stator 1 and the polarity of the magnet 7 is such that it opposes the flux produced by the electromagnet.
