730,073. Convertible chairs. MONTROSE, K. D. March 2, 1954 [March 2, 1953], No. 5712/53. Classes 52 (2) and 52 (3). A nursing chair convertible into a cot comprises a seat portion 4 hinged to the front of the chair frame 1, a footboard 8 hinged to the free end of the seat portion and detachable side rails 9 which may be of the " drop side " type, or may hinge down. A handle 5 on the seat portion provides means for hinging the seat out. In a modification, the hinged foot-board is replaced by a detachable cot end having legs reaching the floor. In a further modification, a drawer in the front of the chair pulls out to receive a loose seat portion to form a continuous base with the chair frame for a mattress. The frame 1 may have one or more drawers.
