In conveyers for powdered and granular materials of the kind in which the material is fluidized by air introduced through a gas permeable supporting member, this member is formed of material which is either inherently non-wettable by water or has been treated to render it so by impregnation, brushing or spraying, with an organo silicon compound, especially the so-called polyorganosiloxanes or silicones, or by coating it with wax or other film-forming substances. The permeable member may be formed of ceramic, sintered metal, sintered glass, woven metal or woven fabric.
