A suspension document file comprises a number of folders each consisting of a folded sheet of paper or cardboard having one edge non-variably engaged with a suspension member and one free edge variably engaged with a neighbouring suspension member, one of the vertical front edges of each folder being provided with a folded or bent back strip formed with a vertical line of holes for the attachment of a label holder. The folder comprises a straight part 7 having at the upper edge a crease 5 and flap 6 which is secured to a suspension plate 1 by passing through a slit 2 and clipping the flap at 14 to the part 7, the plate 1 having hooked ends 4 to rest on supporting rails. At the bottom of the folder, a crease line 8 joins the part 7 to a further straight part 10 which is marked with fold lines 9 which allow the capacity of the folder to be varied, the upper edge of the part 10 having a crease line 11 succeeded by fold lines 12, the fold lines 9 and 12 being equally spaced and marked if desired with corresponding letters or with numbers which may indicate the distance from the crease lines 8, 11. The free end of the folder ends in an oblique edge 13 to facilitate insertion thereof through the slit 2 of the adjacent suspension plate 1, as shown in Fig. 9, the crease 11, or appropriate fold line 12 lying in the slit 2. An extension 16 along one front edge of the folder side 7 is punched with a series 17 of rectilinear perforations and a series 18 of triangular perforations and the extension is turned back and secured against the side 7 by clips 19. The label holder 20 comprises a strip of sheet metal folded at 24 to form a channel over which a transparent sheath slides, the label being positioned between, and two tongues 22 adapted to engage the perforations 17 or 18. By utilising perforations 17 only, the label holder may be positioned vertically, or by using one perforation from each series, it may be inclined in either direction. The extension 16 may be integral with the folder as shown or a separate piece secured by adhesive or clips. The slit 2 in the plate 1 may be dispensed with and a slit formed in the upper portion of the side 7 to take the end edge 13 of the next folder.
