Abstract

727,357. Endless conveyers. KELLER, H. April 2, 1953 [April 4, 1952], No. 9198/53. Class 78 (1). An endless conveyer framework is composed of units interlinked so as to form a series of articulated parallelograms a constituted by pairs of laterally spaced profile members b pivotally connected end-to-end and to transverse members c extended between the ends of each pair, the profile members affording upper and lower guides for the endless conveyer or its endless carrying elements. As shown, an endless scraper conveyer so formed can be laid in curves in the horizontal plane provided that its end sections lie substantially parallel. The hinge points d form the means for interconnecting the members band c. Each member c, Fig. 3, has a pair of pins p welded to it engaging in ears i secured to one member b and ears k attached to the adjacent end of the adjacent member b. The top and bottom casings f and e for the two superposed conveyer runs are formed separately for ease of assembly and pins pare tapered at both ends to allow of relative angular movement between the units in the vertical plane. The top casing is formed as a rail track for supporting waggons and is also provided with a conveying floor g which is pivotally mounted centrally on consecutive members c by pins t and has cranked side edges s for sliding engagement in a slot formed between the member c and the top casing f. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5, the pins p are not tapered and instead of being secured to the member c are secured to a skid 11 under the profile members, each of which are made in one piece, i.e. of E-section. The member c passes through slots 6 in the profile members of adjacent units and together with a pair of swinging fasteners 12 is threaded on each of the pins p. The adjacent units may thus be brought together and aligned laterally by the engagement of forked lugs 4, attached to the profile members, with the pins p, after which the swinging fasteners 12 are swung over latchtype fasteners of either form 9 or 10 to lock the adjacent units together. Relative angular movement between the units in the vertical plane is enabled by a loose fit of the swinging fasteners 12 on the pins p.
