Abstract
726,139. Filing papers; tabs. LENNARTZ, W. June 22, 1953 [June 26, 1952], No. 17255/53. Classes 16 and 146(1). A card or a folder e to be stored in a filing cabinet comprises at least one combined transparent index and edge reinforcement or strip a which forms a hollow space or spaces b to receive interchangeable insertions c or r, the strip a being attached to the card or folder e so that it does not extend beyond the top edge and the card or folder itself forms one wall of the hollow space or spaces. The card or folder e and strip a may form two hollow spaces b for strip insertions c one above the other or as shown in Fig. 6, a number of side by side spaces for tab insertions r. In the folder shown in Fig. 5, the strip a is extended downwardly at f to form a closure flap for the other leaf of the folder e. As shown in Fig. 3 strips a are secured to both top edges of the folder e, one being turned outwardly as shown, or inwardly to form a retaining flap. The cards or folders are intended for suspension files and perforations d may be provided for the purpose as shown in Fig. 3 or in an upper extension, or open or oblong apertures may be provided as necessary. A hole or other opening may be provided in non-suspension portfolios to facilitate removal of an insertion strip.
