Abstract
725,484. Yarn tensioning devices. SPECIALTIES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. June 16, 1953 [June 24, 1952], No. 16528/53. Class 120 (2). A yarn tension compensating device comprises means for receiving yarn therebe. tween to control the tension thereof, a pair of relatively movable elements each having a surface adjacent the other, oscillating means responsive to the tension in the yarn for moving one of said elements and controlling said first mentioned means, and silicone grease between said surfaces serving to act as a lubricant when said surfaces are moved relatively slowly with respect to each other and serving to damp relative movement of said elements when an attempt is made to move said surfaces rapidly with respect to each other, whereby to minimize the amplitude of oscillation of said oscillating means. In the embodiment shown the invention is applied to a tensioning device described in Specification 651,549, the silicone grease S.G. is placed between the end surface 20 of cage 15 which carries an oscillating arm 17 and the surface 21 of the inner face of the housing 16. Other embodiments are described in connection with the tensioning devices shown and described in Specifications 683,928 and 715,942.
