Abstract

725,360. Centrifugal separators. METALLGES. AKT.-GES. April 2, 1953 [April 9, 1952; Aug. 20, 1952], No. 9266/53. Class 23. In a multi-cell separator having cells with axial inlets and cleaned gas outlets at the inlet ends of the cells, the gas outlets are bent or branched to discharge through the walls of the cells or through the partition separating the gas to be cleaned from the cleaned gas. As shown in Figs. 1, 3 bent gas outlets 3 and branched gas outlets 3<SP>1</SP> discharge through the inlet portions 6 of the cells to the gas outlet duct which is separated from the gas inlet duct by a partition 5 formed by the inlet portions 6. Pairs of rows of cells discharge into dust tubes 8 leading to a screw conveyer (not shown). In the construction shown in Fig. 6, the dust from rows of cells is discharged into divergent dust tubes 8<SP>1</SP> and the gas is removed by a fan 13. The dust outlet ends of the cells may be fitted with flanges as shown in Fig. 13 in which spaced groups of cells and plates 5<SP>1</SP>, 29 form a gas outlet passage 11. In an alternative construction the plate 5<SP>1</SP>, 29 are dispensed with and the flanges 5, 28 of the cells may be extended to form the gas outlet passage. In the separator shown in Fig. 19, dust settling in the cleaned gas collecting chamber slides down the partition 8<SP>1</SP> formed by the flanges of the cells to discharge at 34, the dust and gas separated in the cells discharging at 10, 12 respectively. In the heat exchanger and separator shown in Fig. 22 the gas ouetls 3 are bent to extend to the dust outlet ends of the cells 1 and partitions 5, 51 form a passage for the fluid to be heated by the hot gas cleaned in the cells.
